Introducing RRF’s Beer Die Tournament – the most high-energy, can’t-miss game at the event, where anything can happen (and usually does)! Grab a partner, check the bracket, and get ready to toss and catch your way to victory.
It’s all about high-tosses, sharp aim, and big celebrations as teams go head-to-head trying to land that perfect die and rack up points. Whether you’re a Beer Die legend or just jumping in for fun, every round is packed with big energy and nonstop action.

Rules

Please defer to the printable official rules button above (coming this summer). All rules on that rule sheet are final. The rules listed below are a guideline and all rules will defer to the printable official rules above. Details to come!  For now, space is limited and will sell out.. so here are some of the basics.
START TIMES
1. Teams must be at play area ready to play 5 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
2. If a team is late, the opposing team will receive 1 point every 5 minutes until the team arrives
3. If the team is more than 10 minutes late, it will be considered a forfeit.
There will be a mandatory rules meeting 10 minutes before tournament start times (Saturday – 10:20, Sunday – 9:50)
GAME STRUCTURE
Official Game Times will be kept on universal smartphone time.
1. Games will be to 13 win by 2 with a 30 minute timer
2. If neither team makes it to 13, the team with the highest number of points will be deemed the winner
3. Ties at the end of 30 minutes will be decided by a winner take all sudden death toss off
4. All players will get their drink tickets from the TD’s before each round. Sink will be given another drink coupon (1 per person per game if needed). If you need another beverage for any other reason, they will be for sale at the Beer Die Bar Â

GENERAL RULES
1. Partners stand on the same side of the table and place their cups on a corner. Cups must always have beer/seltzer/water in them
2. To start the game, a player from each team will roll a dice at the same time. The team who rolls the highest number will decide sides and who tosses first
3. Teams will switch sides at 6 points scored. NO KILL & FILL
4. Each player must yell “Die” or “Die Up” before their toss
5. Dice must be tossed about 8 feet above the tossers head
6. Partners will toss one at a time. Then it is the opposing teams turn regardless of points scored
7. Dice must bounce on the opposing teams side of the table first to remain in play
8. Once the dice bounces off the table, the opposing team must catch the dice before it hits the ground
9. The catching team must wait for the dice to be off the table before catching. No limbs or catches over the table on catches or tosses
10. If the dice misses the table, lands on the thrower side, or does not bounce off the table, play is dead and no point is awarded. The dice continues to the opposing team in its normal tossing rotation.
11. No cupping when catching. Catches must be 1 handed away from the body
12. No moving screens or contact
13. Disagreements of height or bounce will be solved in a re-toss
14. Disagreements beyond that will be resolved by the TD’s
15. Any fighting or aggressive behavior will result in expulsion from the tournament & festival

HOW TO SCORE
GENERAL – 1 Point – The catching team cannot catch the dice on a legal toss and it hits the ground. 1 point awarded to the throwing team
FIFA – 1 Point (Catching Team) – If the dice misses the table completely a member of the catching team can use feet or legs to pop up the dice to their partner. If the die is caught the catching team will be awarded 1 point. The Catcing team must yell “FIFA” before completeing the catch for it to count. 2 Fifa’s per team per game is allowed. Fifas made during a in play, legal toss are not awarded points
Field Goal – 2 Points (Throwing Team) – The dice hits the catching teams side and rolls back through the throwing teams cups and off the table
Field Goal – 1 Point (Catching Team) – If the catching team manages to catch this die by running around the table. No moving screens or contact
Sink – 3 Points (Throwing Team) – The dice lands in one of the catching teams cups either off a legal bounce or out of the air. The player who was sunk must finish their beverage and get a refill before play continues. If a tosser self sinks they must also kill & fill their drink but no point are awarded to either team. If you are sunk, see TD’s for another beverage.

Reno River Fest reserves the right to modify game times or bracket structure due to grass conditions, time constraints, team count, injuries, and especially due to inclement weather or play locations.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
RRF’s Beer Die Tournament is a 32 team party tournament with double elimination. This laid back tournament includes a official 1 free beer per person per game, awards, and access to the Reno River Festival.

CHECK-IN
Teams must check in at the Adventure Check-In Tent in between the Rose Garden and Pool Complex.
Check-in begins at 9:30AM on Saturday and 9AM on Sunday. A team representative must be at the rules meeting at the Native American head sculpture at 10:20 on Saturday and 9:50 on Sunday.
Teams must check-in with the TD’S at the Native American Head sculpture 5 minutes before their game times.
At check in, teams will receive their RiverFest entry Passes. If you want to attend the festival on Friday, just head to any of our other ticket Check-In Tents.
