Introducing Reno River Festival’s Dog Jog, a costumed celebration of fitness, fun, and four-legged friends along a scenic route through Idlewild Park and the Truckee River. The route is designed with your canine companion in mind and feature dog water stations and photo opportunities. The best part? Adoption agencies will be on-site to give rescue dogs a chance to find their forever homes!

Whether your pup prefers a leisurely trot or a full-on zoomie sprint, the Dog Jog is sure to get their tail wagging.

THE COURSE

THE DETAILS

The Dog Jog begins at 9AM Sunday morning
Walk or jog – The Dog Jog is not timed
Dogs must remain on a leash at all times
Kids and strollers are welcome – children unable to keep pace with their group must ride in a stroller
Participants must remain on the designated course and respect nearby neighborhoods

CHECK-IN

Check-in starting at 7:30AM on Sunday
Participants must check-in before 8:30AM Sunday

THE CAUSE

Pet adoption agencies will be on-site to help rescue dogs find their forever homes
A portion of the proceeds will benefit one of RiverFest’s local non-profits

CHECK-IN

Check-in for the Dog Jog is at our South Entrance Tent. Here is the RiverFest map to help you get where you’re going: RIVERFEST MAP
All participants must be checked in half an hour before the launch of Dog Jog.
All human participants must sign a waiver at the time of check in to participate in the Dog Jog.
You will receive a Dog Jog bib at check-in that must be worn at all times during the Dog Jog.
All dog participants will receive a RiverFest bandana at check-in.
If you upgraded with a t-shirt add-on, you will receive it at check-in.
If you did not upgrade with a t-shirt add-on, Dog Jog shirts will be available for purchase.
Pet disposal bags will be available at check-in.
New participants can register at check-in. If you need to add a dog, you can also do so at this time.

THE COURSE

The Dog Jog is 3.81 miles. The course takes you along the Truckee River, through the neighborhoods around Idlewild, and ends at the Reno River Festival. You can view the course map here: DOG JOG MAP
The Dog Jog is designed to be a fun, leisurely experience. It features treat, water, and play stations. It is not timed.
The Dog Jog begins at 9AM. The starting line is at our South Entrance Tent at check-in.
RiverFest staff and volunteers will be set up along the course to assist you.
Our professional photographer will be at the turn at Crissie Caughlin Park to take photos of you and your pup.
All participants must complete the course by 10:30AM.

THE FINISH LINE

The finish line is at RiverFest’s North Entrance Tent by the Idlewild softball fields.
Participants will receive their Dog Jog medals at the finish line.
Boxers and Buddies will have pups looking for their forever homes at the finish line.
Your Dog Jog registration does not include RiverFest entry. If you would like to come in and enjoy the festival and have not purchased an entry Pass, you can purchase your Pass here. Dogs get into the festival for free!

IMPORTANT!

There are times when you will be crossing the street or the sidewalk narrows. Please follow the rules of the road including:

Jog facing traffic so you can see oncoming vehicles.
Obey all road signs.
Make eye contact with drivers before crossing intersections.

Respect the neighborhoods surrounding Idlewild Park. Do not enter people’s private property. Do not litter.
You are responsible for cleaning up after your own pet. Pet waste disposal bags will be available at check-in.
All human participants must wear their Dog Jog bib at all times.
Dogs must remain on a leash at all times.
Children unable to keep pace with their group must ride in a stroller.
