The Annual Reno River Festival


Don't miss the world's most extreme whitewater competition in Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield as the Reno River Festival attracts world-class competitors and visitors from all parts of the globe for three days of action-packed excitement in downtown Reno. Boat with the big boys (and girls) in the Open Freestyle competition or come see the Invitation Freestyle, where champions spin, loop and McNasty it out on our freestyle course, or check out the mad-paddling frenzy that is the adrenaline-infused Boater Cross.

 

Pro Invitational

What has become the Reno River Festival's signature whitewater event, the Reno River Festival Pro Freestyle corwn has become one of the most coveted awards in all of freestyle kayaking. The Invitational hosts all current and many former world freestyle champions including Nick Troutman, Emily Jackson, Jason Craig, as well as Ruth Gordon, Eric Jackson and Dane Jackson, presenting a deep and diverse group of professional athletes.

 

Open Freestyle

The Open Freestyle is a free event that is open to all amatuer kayakers and is administered by World Kayak as a Hometown Throwdown (HTTD). Categories include mens's, women's and juniors and, pending registration numbers a cadet (under 9) division. The top three finishers in men's, women's heats adance to compete in Saturday's Pro Invitational.

 

Down River Race

This 3.5 mile race to the finish line takes competitors from Crissy Caughlin Park to Wingfield Park over class II and III rapids to see who's the faster boater of all. No limitations on boat length or type and individual time trials will be held. One overall winner will be awarded. View the final times.

 

Surftech Stand Up Paddle Board Rally on the River

SurftTech This year, the Reno River Festival invites you to compete in this up-and-coming sport to see who’s king (or queen) of the Truckee River SUP Race. A first-ever event at the Festival, the SUP Race is open to all competitors who are willing to attempt this balancing act on the swells of the Truckee River, with the winner determined by fastest time. Individual time trials will be held and maximum board length is 12.5 feet. Type III PFD and helmets are required. View the final times.


Born in Hawaii and capturing the interest of water athletes around the world, Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) is currently the fastest growing segment in the water sports market. Popularized in recent years by professional surfers such as Laird Hamilton, SUP can be done on flat water or in large swells and is most often seen along the shores of San Diego, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and all over the islands of Hawaii.


 

 

2010 Alt Games College Kayaking Boatercross Championships

College Action Sports Championships is a CBS College Sports Network-owned festival of collegiate championships, bringing together thousands of the best college action sports athletes from campuses across the country vying for titles and the right to be called “national champion” of their sport. The 2010 Alt Games College Kayaking Boatercross Championships are open to all college students currently enrolled in at least two courses within a 6-month window. All registrants must supply an athlete bio and proof of college enrollment upon check-in. Heats of four boaters, divided by gender, will race head-to-head with the two fastest competitor from each heat advancing to the next level until the final four competitors are determined.
